Our Learning - Intermediate Classes
|
In Term 1, intermediate students have explored the various ways in which the human hand is able to create items, ideas and images that influence and impact other people and events under the broad theme of “The Power in Your Hands.” Regular problem solving activities and weekly critical and creative thinking challenges have provided opportunities to apply higher order thinking skills each program day. Students have engaged in several creative projects; the plaster casting of their hands (covering them with “powerful” words) inspired by the works of George Segal, the ongoing 100 Notebook project as well as designing and constructing their own articulated hand created using common materials.
Students have begun their Independent Inquiry projects through choosing a topic of personal interest to investigate, developing an appropriate research question and conducting preliminary research. Students will complete their research and present their findings at the end of Term 2 and therefore, a grade will be assigned for Research Skills and Presentation on the Term 2 Enrichment Report Card. |
